The City of Muskegon has four launch ramps.
- Fisherman’s Landing
- Hartshorn Launch
- Grand Trunk
- Cottage Grove
Each of the four City of Muskegon launch ramps require permits for use. Seasonal permits are available for purchase at the marina office as well as a number of places around town, and daily passes are available at each ramp. All permits must be properly paid and displayed to be valid.
Launching without a valid permit is a civil infraction.
City of Muskegon Launch Ramps welcome boats up to thirty-feet using single or double axle trailers. Larger boats and trailers cannot be accommodated by these ramps.
Vessels over thirty-feet or triple axles may pay and launch at the Mart Dock, 560 Mart Street. Fee arrangements may be with the Mart Dock office 231-855-1064. Launch fee is $20.00.

- Seasonal permit: $70
Resident price: $50
Senior price: $45
Senior Resident price: $30
*senior and resident discounts are only available at City Hall, or the Department of Public Works
Procedure:
Seasonal Launch Ramp Permits are valid for one vehicle each.
Permit stickers must be fully adhered to the vehicle’s front windshield to be valid.
Daily Passes
Places to Procure:
A self-serve option, daily passes are available at each launch ramp and will be found on the large sign near the ramps.
Pricing:
- $10/day
*daily passes will expire at midnight, day of purchase
Procedure:
- Retrieve LAUNCH RAMP PERMIT from the sign
- Complete both sections of the form
- Tear off completed permit portion
- Place $10.00 in cash, check or money order in the envelope portion
- Seal and deposit envelope in purple collection pipe
- Place permit on dashboard of user vehicle
